Time for Gluten Free Story Friday! This week we’re highlighting someone who does not need to eat gluten free because of Celiac or a gluten intolerance, but because he finds it helpful to his training regiment! Brian first reached out to us, simply to commend us on our products. After speaking with him further, we found out he is training for his first ever marathon and uses our granola as fuel! Here’s what Brian had to say about it.
“Funny story how I stumbled across your Nutty Cranberry Maple Granola. A co-worker actually brought it into work and I got to try it (a local grocery store Sureway Foods carrys it). She realized how much I enjoyed it so she gave me the bag. I’ve only used it following a few training runs but it’s a perfect piece to the nutrition puzzle. While not a sufferer of Celiac disease or even on a gluten free diet by choice I find the products 70(ish) percent carbohydrate ratio to be very much in line with my needs. I also find the nuts and seeds give me energy without making me sluggish or bloated. Being an athlete I also enjoy knowing that my ‘fuel’ comes from natural sources. I truly enjoy not seeing a laundry list of preservatives and chemicals listed in the ingredients. I’ve used it once pre-run and a few times post run always with success. This product will make a great snack at other times during the day as well.
I am training for my first ever marathon. My running history actually has 3 previous half marathons. I am no where near an elite athlete but more of the every day runner who slowly wants to push the bar higher and higher with my goals. My marathon is in April (Kentucky Derby marathon) and I plan to run my first 50k (31 mile Ultra marathon) in Sept. While this product is good for post run recovery the only downside is that it’s not a real viable option for the actual race part (if only you made it in small single serving tubes).
Thanks for making a great product! I just wanted to commend you on Facebook so that others could see.
Thanks,
-Brian Mitchell”
